Close your eyes,
Feel the beat,
Sway your body,
Move your feet.
Let music wind
Into your soul,
Guide your passion,
Take control.
Arms reach out,
Life embrace,
Full of power,
Joy and grace.
Glide and bend,
Bare your heart;
Love and pain,
Each movement, art.
Today my mind wandered toward passion; how people view it, express it. For me, passion manifests itself into my writing, singing and dance. Dance, it seems has been universal for expression of sorrow, joy, anger, pain….LIFE!
So as I thought about how I sometime dance in my seat when I’m excited or jump up to dance to a song I love when I’m happy…or even dance to feel powerful, I thought I’d jot down a few words…isn’t it funny that they took on a rhythm, a lyrical quality suited to dance?
How do you express your passion? Where do you find your joy?
I also hope you’ll take the time to enjoy these awesome musicians who’ve combined their passions for both dance and music into some memorable and powerful songs.
Pink does power and anger and a never say die attitude so well. Like she said, “You’ve Gotta Get Up And Try!”
Kellie Pickler does an awesome job of communicating that life is all about moments…and they go on all around us. Don’t miss one because you’re too busy to tell someone how you feel.
Or this one….from Singin’ In The Rain. Actually, that scene could’ve very well been a movie clip of my life if I knew how to tap. Something about late nights with friends and just pure old fashioned fun.
So I ask again…. How do you express your passions? Your joy? Heartache? Love? Do you Dance (keep in mind, I didn’t ask if you do it well…;-)) ?
We saw Pink in concert and she is an amzing performer.
I guess I expresss my mental and emotional passions through my blog. As for physical passions they are exposed on the dance floor and bedroom! I’m one of those guys that always liked to dance. Also, I learned from a young age that the guys on the dance floor hooked up with way more girls than the guys standing on the sidelines watching like a creeper with a beer in their hand!

I’ve been dying to see her. Love her music. She’s got such powerful lyrics, too. (She’s seriously built like a brick shithouse, too!!)
Dance floor and bedroom, huh? Two great places for expressing passions, to be sure! Funny, when I was reading your words about creepers on the sidelines I had an image of that scene from Footloose in my head…you know, when they went to a bar and his best friend didn’t know how to dance? 😉

I got on the dance floor quickly once I started to hit the bar/club scene. I was bad at it at the start but learned how to dance pretty well. I did not want to be one of THOSE guys that stood around acting too cool to dance. I was the guy hooking up and getting the digits!

That’s me!!!!!!! Dancing and writing are my thing. In that order! I cannot stop or help myself when I hear good music. My body just takes over. Nice poem. 😉

That’s awesome! Dancing is such a joyful release, I think. Someday I think I’d like to take Latin ballroom dance classes along with swing. Until then, I’ll just shake my thang out there on that dance floor…or in the rain…or in the middle of my living room. 😉

Nice piece of poetry lovely. I have PINK up loud – I adore this woman totally. Talented beyond belief. Singing in the Rain omg how that took me back! My passion use to be in dancing – I was pretty damn hot back in my day 😀 If I get the chance I still dance, but usually with the girls and Mr. S unfortunately looks like the “why you ask Grasshopper” on the dance floor.:-) I dance in the lounge by myself when no one peeks and my other passion is of course my writing. Real nice post there ma lady xx

I could picture you as a fiery dancer. I bet you still have moves that would put the youngun’s to shame! Dance, like writing and music, are an expression of our soul.

Loved your poem, Kitt.!I tend to get overly enthusiast about anything I’m passionate about. People that know me are used to that giddiness. I feel like a kid 🙂

I think that’s great! If you can’t be childlike in your zeal toward the things you love, what can you get childlike about?

Hey Kitt! Guess what? I can relate VERY well to the physical and verbal expression of passions, joys, heartaches, loves and certainly dancing! Your music videos too; I celebrate and embrace all 3 forms with a condition: that the person’s/partner’s dignity receiving the expression is respected. So you can imagine that my house is…
festive!? 😉
Example: My mom literally gets happy-feet when she’s laughing or excited. Guess who inherited that, in a more masculine, a little reserved form, but nonetheless clearly visible? LOL
Fun post and music! Thank you.

Great videos, Kitt. I hadn’t seen Kellie’s video yet. My story telling began through dance. So, I can definitely relate.

Thanks. Even in the sorrow, pain and anger that can be communicated through dance…there’s a deep underlying joy and passion for life. Well, that’s what I see. 😉
