Thankful for You – Finding My Attitude of Gratitude (and a gift)

This year has been hard for everyone. No doubt. Between the Rona, quarantine, politics (which I will not be engaging in discussion about because that’s not my style and everyone’s entitled to their opinion), all the sad and strange happenings that seem to be occurring in everyone’s lives, this world could feel downright oppressive.

If you’re not ok right now, I get it, and I’d like to hear from you because I’d like to show you some love and support (and add you to my prayers–even if it’s not something you believe it it can’t hurt, right?).

But me? I need a different kind of focus…

My Pretty Purple Bling-y Glasses

The reality is most of those things are outside of our control, right?

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you already know “out of my control” is not my bag…so I focused on my controllables.

Like finding pretty purple glasses that make me feel kinda sexy.

Like discovering that the silver in my hair looks hawt enough to embrace growing it out until it’s safe enough to meet with my stylist. (I’m in a state where I could go because we’re not locked down, but she’s the caregiver for her elderly mother and I don’t feel comfortable exposing her to me when I’ve been an “essential worker” and around people this whole time.)

Most of all I’m thankful for YOU–my online family. I’m grateful for the laughter from shared memes, the check-ins, the likes and comments, the messages, the encouragement and feedback.

It meant so much to me that I wanted to do something nice for you, so TODAY and TOMORROW ONLY I’ve made A Way With Words FREE!

I’m spending today at work, but tomorrow both my brother-in-law (the ER doc) and I will be off, so we’ll enjoy our family Thanksgiving then. I can’t wait for all the fabulous food and family time.

What are you thankful for? What’s your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? What about your favorite food?

I am grateful my like went thru today — unlike last night. Not enough room to express all the people and things I have gratitude for…but you are definitely a part of that, Kitt!
LOL & re the purple glasses, I really went ape over mine with the purple tinge to the lenses – part of the blue blocker protection. 😉

Hello Kitt! 😉 ❤️ Great to cya again AND in WOW-GLAM purple glasses too! Hubba hubba! 🔥 😛

It has been a hard two years for me and of course COVID-19 has only amplified it in every imaginable way. But my story is not much different than most all Americans this year. I am particularly heartbroken by all the families suffering during and thru COVID deaths of loved ones, especially lost children. I hear the horror stories from frontline workers (nurses mostly) that have reached burnout several/many times this year OR who have lost invaluable coworkers they tried to care for and save. Now we have a new psych diagnosis (hitting hospital staff) of PTSD called Covid-19 PTSD. 😟 It is hard not to sink into depression from so much death and suffering around us.

And Kitt, I’m not sure if you know, but for about the last 3-years I have happily volunteered (and now work for) a Crisis Suicide Hotline covering north Texas because I have a background and work-experience in the field, particularly crisis management—if you remember my past with my Dad.

Anyway, they are constantly begging me to work (the 9pm to 6am shift) shorted shifts and yet substantial increase in activity. And Kitt, for the first time I can ever remember, we are dealing with nurses and hospital staff on the phones now and their family members deeply worried about them. 🥺 In doing this, it helps me take my mind off MY OWN concerns and self-pity. There’s good days and there’s bad days. I won’t bother saying which one is more this year. :/

So that sneaky grin/smile of yours and FABULOUS purple glasses are a WELCOMED sight and read Ma’am!!! Thank you Darling! Stay well, stay safe and gobble gobble gobble!!! 🦃😁

*big hugs* This year has been a rough one, to be sure. Glad I could brighten your day a little. I was so sure you were going to pop up on my “Just the Tip” post… 😉

Either way, I am grateful for you and hearing from you. Our friendship has always given me joy. Wishing you a better year next year..
