Embraceable YOU!

Today I woke up to the best surprise.

Yes, it happened. The surprise project created by the lovely August McLaughlin of GirlBoner went live on Amazon Kindle today! On her blog she shares some of her favorite things about this project. I feel so fortunate to be included as a contributor on such an important body of work.

This was truly a labor of love for my friend and the many other gifted contributors.

Here are some early editorials for Embraceable:

“Sassy, spicy, and deceptively wise, this book will empower you to own your sexual self and enjoy your romantic life–and your whole life–a great deal more.” — Victoria Moran, author of Creating a Charmed Life

“August McLaughlin takes on sexuality, body image, depression and female empowerment head on! One part memoir, one part sociological manifesto = something of interest for women of all ages. She hit the nail on the head with this book. Frank personal stories and interviews interspersed throughout the book help us unpack our personal inner conflicts that when unexamined suck the joy out of the female experience.” — Cheryl Grant M.A., M.F.T.

“Let this book give women back their imagination and ownership of their sexual story to write the one that truly lets them know, feel and experience the level of pleasure and connection their hearts most desire.” — Megan Fleming, Ph.D.

Like Shere Hite, Erica Jong and Nancy Friday, McLaughlin’s work is notable not just for women, but for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of their sexual and spiritual self. Embraceable is just that.” — M.G. Miller

I hope you’ll find this book as enriching and rewarding as I did!

And on that note, I’d like to share a holiday song that leaves me feeling a bit spiritual.

Shamrocks, Shillelaghs, and Shenanegans!

Although my life has suddenly become extremely hectic, I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a

Happy St. Paddy’s Day!!!

So, for fun, I’d love to hear what your Offensive holiday name is…. I’ll go first. My name is Slutty O’Blaze!

Offensive St Paddy's Day

Have you been celebrating? How? Are you a green beer drinking bar hopper? Did you have corned beef and cabbage for lunch or dinner? Do you do something else? Guys, did you stick your shillelagh in some sexy person’s pot ‘o’ gold? Did you read Irish themed trashy romances?

Me? I opened a new store (the new job I started), and am now enjoying some Gaelic music and relaxing… So here’s a fun little ditty in honor of Galway in Ireland.

Hopefully you remembered to wear green, and if you didn’t, hopefully you were pinched in all the best naughty places… 😉

And my little limerick.

Shaking the Shillelagh

There was a wee man named Shamrock
Who bragged about having a big cock.
His rooster wiggled.
The ladies giggled.
That randy old bird was ALL TALK!

Wink, Wink…Holiday Healthy Eating Habits (Humor)

Okay…. I live in Florida, so dietary health restrictions are hardly unheard of. Add the fact that my stepdad has a gluten intolerance…and so many people have gone on all sorts of different health kick diets that this one just tickled my funny bone! Let’s be real… In this day and age this could totally happen!

C’mon…. Ya’ll know it was hilarious. The humor is right up my tongue-in-cheek alley.

The Sound Of The Holidays

Those of you who’ve followed me for a while know that Christmas is my all time favorite holiday. For me it’s all about good will, friendship, family and solidarity that is universal across the world…because whether your holiday is Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or Christmas, if you’re able to strip down the commercialism, December is a month where everyone focuses outside of themselves to those around them in a show of love and appreciation.

So, every day I’ll be posting a favorite Christmas song, just as I did last year. Those of you who aren’t big on the holidays…I understand…and I won’t be offended if you skip those posts (I’ll still have “regular” posts, too).

To kick December off, I thought I’d start with a Jim Brickman collaboration with Richie McDonald from Lonestar and his song “Coming Home For Christmas.” What’s your favorite holiday? Do you have a favorite Christmas song?

Halloween Harmonies

Yes, I’ve been away for a little while. I took on a new temporary job that has kept me hopping. This last week has been all about me getting used to the travel and the rhythms of this new adventure.

In the meantime, Halloween has been on my brain. This holiday is full of frightful fun! We’ve been known to go all out with our yard décor….

This year I’m not sure if we’ll have time to decorate, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get into the spirit of the holiday. Here are five of my favorite songs that bring out my Halloween festive side. To be fair, none of them are really scary. They’re more music to set the mood for fun parties.

Starting with a bit of Shmaltz, we’ll go with a tried and true classic by the Oak Ridge Boys in honor of the original queen of the darkness…. It’s good for young and old alike.

Next is one of my favorite Glee mashups, combining Michael Jackson and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Not only is it still kid friendly, it’s fun, playful and gets everyone dancing…and singing their favorite parts.

Getting a little darker, Warren Zevon pays homage to the werewolf, one of my favorite beasties. It definitely gets a person moving.

Of course, you can’t think Halloween and leave out the Witches…so the next two are for them. I’m a big fan of Joss Stone’s voice, but you combine her with Jeff Beck and you’ve got some serious spells flying….

Of course witch craft has such strong, seductive power that we can’t possibly leave out the very sensual Eagles song…

And now that I’m in a sexy mood…maybe it’s time to pick out a costume. Tameri Etherton, my fabulous blogging buddy who keeps me on her toes, recently suggested that with my dark side, this particular outfit might be ideal…. (She sent the picture to me via Facebook)

Is this outfit me???

Is this outfit me???

Do you have a better costume idea for me? Any favorite Halloween songs that get you in the party mood? I’d love to hear what you guys are thinking!

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Maligayang Pasko…

Last night we had our candlelight service at church. I was honored to be a part of it and got to sing. In fact, I’d planned on maybe singing a song for you guys, but neither my computer nor iPad was cooperating. Now, I don’t have nearly the voice or talent of the artists I’ve been sharing with you guys over the last few weeks, but it would’ve been heartfelt…

Having said that…I heard a folk story for the first time that I’d never heard before. It was about dreams…what you’d wanted to be…and how sometimes it differs from God’s plan for you. He DOES have some AMAZING plans for our lives… It’s kind of funny how we fight them sometimes, but as long as we love…and have a little faith…he’ll find a way to make us into what he’s planned for us all along. His plan is always so much bigger and better than what we come up with. 🙂

After hearing the story, which, incidentally reminded me of my friend Mae and her Mythical Mondays…I thought I’d share it because it’s a great reminder… Never to lose hope or faith…and to trust HIM to make our lives into the dreams we never even knew we had!

Now there’s a longer, fancier version of this story…a 20-30 minute movie…but I decided that’s just way too long.  Anyway, I hope you and yours appreciate this little Christmas message…

Enjoy today. I hope you spend it with the people you love, showing them just how much they mean… and that the next year is a happy and healthy one.

As usual…here is my final Christmas song for…the one I wanted to sing for you… I hope you love it as much as I did!

Can you imagine how scared Mary must have been? I think that’s part of the miracle, don’t you? I mean…if you think of that time, she was only about 14 or 15 years old. What a responsibility!

Merry Christmas!

Sending You A Little Christmas

For everyone who can’t be with their families for Christmas…especially all of the troops who are out there around the world, representing your respective countries, here’s a little Christmas love for you. And for all my new friends on here who take the time to read my stuff…I may not know you face to face, but thanks for enriching my year…this is also for you. Merry Christmas!

Gotta love Jim Brickman’s music…his stuff always hits right at the heart of the matter, and Kristy Starling makes those lyrics hers.
