Hey, Stranger! Let Me Introduce Myself… #Hello2016

Hello

Bonjour! I hope everyone’s having a stellar new year so far.

When Anna over at Herding Cats & Burning Soup came up with this idea for a blog hop, I was pretty stoked! Basically, here’s how this one goes. In this hop, we’re to introduce you to fun, quirky things about ourselves and/or our blogs. Not the boring, obvious stuff like I’m an erotica writer who can turn practically anything into innuendo….but more random, surprising, or maybe disturbing things. PLUS, we give stuff away AND a lot of cool authors and bloggers are involved.

Is there anything better than FUN & FREE?

So here goes….

My biggest fear is not blood or guts or gore…. If you want to see me get all weak, girly, and scream like someone murdered me (aka not in the good, orgasmic way)… watch me when I see a frog. I completely lose my dignity. Don’t believe? Read about it….HERE.

I don’t care what anyone thinks. They. Are. NOT. Cute!

Hospital

In a past life I worked for a hospital for several years. The tales I tell are both comical and a bit disconcerting with the strange things people have done…Check it OUT!

On a personal level?

Yup! I AM that girl that pretty much turns everything into a song. This was a little snippet from my wedding day. My sister gave me a hug, and someone said something like…”Awww, look at the sisters…” Which caused me to break into this song, and my sister to chime in. Yes, it’s a family thing. I come by it naturally.

The strange? Cause, ya know…. There had to be the strange, right?

My favorite flip flops and toe rings

My biggest insecurity body image insecurity came from my feet. I hated them with a passion. Felt they were ugly….until I met a foot fetishist who helped me view my feet in a different way. Here’s THAT story.

As for what most consider my most contradictory characteristic? I guess it’s the fact that despite writing ménage erotica, I don’t consider my very outspoken, focused belief in the Freak Flag, letting it fly to contradict my very passionate belief in Christianity and my faith. In fact, I wrote about that, too. It even got me on GirlBoner radio with August McLaughlin.

Anyway…. that’s a bit about me. Now, to tell you what I’m giving away and how to qualify.

I’m feeling generous. I’m giving away 3 books. Two are mine. (Three For All & Four One Night) The third? It’s a project I was honored enough to participate in… all about empowering female sexuality. This is a subject near and dear to my heart. The book? Embraceable: Empowering Facts and True Stories About Women’s Sexuality. They are all in ebook format.

To win, I want you to share something unique and personal about yourself with me. Something that might surprise people, or maybe what you’re passionate about, or which body issues you’ve overcome. It doesn’t matter as long as it’s in the spirit of getting to know each other.

And if you want a chance at more prizes? Check out the link below and visit the other participants!

M is for Ménage, of Course!

Ha! I bet a lot of you thought my ‘M’ would be music, didn’t you?

Surprise! Or really, not so much.

Come on, if the covers weren’t hint enough, you didn’t realize with the titles of my books that I have a preoccupation with ménage?

20140704-022734-8854908.jpg

I mean, here’s an excerpt from Three For All:

“Oh, come on,” James whined. “You’re not seriously going to make me go play by myself.”

“That was a loaded statement.” I bit my tongue to keep from giggling over James’ inadvertent innuendo. “But seriously, there are always options.”

“Options?” His eyes were nearly black with intensity, his curiosity was caught. “Such as?”

“Well,” I smiled brightly and stepped between both men, “We could always head back to your uncle’s cottage. Much more privacy there.”

James shook his head as he took a step back. “Oh, hell no. This is my vacation too. We are not going back there just so I can sit all by myself in my room while you two get your freak on, christening every room in the place. Been there, done that. No thanks. Not today. Love you, but no.”

The urge to do a happy dance at the opportunity that just landed in my lap was nearly irresistible. Instead, I batted my eyes at them playfully as my hands found their way up both men’s chests, enjoying the feel of firm muscle. “Who said you had to be by yourself?”

James’ eyes widened, unsure he’d heard me right. He glanced one last time at the court before he settled back on me, his decision made. As his gaze shifted to my mouth, my tongue darted out to lick my lips. “What exactly are you saying, Dani?”

“Yeah, baby.” The steady beat of Michael’s heart pounded under my palm as his hand covered mine. “Spell it out for us. Exactly what are we talking here?”

“Well,” I looked from one man to the other and went for it. “I have this fantasy and you guys would be perfect.”

“Yeah?” They asked together; both pairs of eyes trained on me.

“Tell us more,” Michael’s hand dropped to his side, his easy smile all the encouragement I needed.

“Yeah,” James grinned and rubbed his palms together in anticipation, eyebrows raised. “We’re listening.”

“Two gorgeous, well-muscled men,” My fingers did a slow crawl up Michael’s pectorals. “You know, like you guys, strictly for my pleasure. Hands all over my body; there to worship me and make me cum over and over again.”

Four One Night WEBSITE USE

And if that wasn’t hint enough, what about this excerpt from Four One Night?

“Hey babe,” his dark, raspy voice came on the line. “What’s up?”

“Well, that all depends on you,” I purred as my hands motioned Candace to get in the car. “Work was nuts and Candace and I need to blow off some steam. We’re headed over to Club Heat for ladies night. Will you join us or do we need to find some other sexy men to play with?”

“Ooh, someone’s feeling feisty.” I could practically see his smile through the rumble in his voice. “I love it when Miss Dani comes out to play.”

“Then you’re gonna love me tonight.” Grabbing the handle, I tugged my door open. Finally out of the chilled air and in the driver’s seat, I slammed the door shut and shoved my key in the ignition.

“Two wild women looking to unleash themselves after a bad day?” The little beep of his car alarm being released sounded through the receiver followed by the slam of the door. “That may be more than I can handle alone.”

Tipping my head against my shoulder to cradle the phone, I turned the key in the ignition, quickly followed by the heater. “Michael Gallo! Afraid you might need reinforcements?”

Music flared in the background as he started his car. “Afraid is such a strong word. I prefer to think of it as being prepared for any eventuality.”

“Well, you know how I feel. The more, the merrier. Hot men and alcohol make everything better!” With one last look in my rear view mirror, I shifted into drive, leaving our bad day in the dust.

Yep! For me, the thought of multiple partners, especially of the male persuasion revs my engine. What ‘M’ excites you?

D is for Doggie Dramatics

Isn’t it funny how two individuals from the same family can be incredibly different from one another? My sister and I are that way, but it doesn’t prevent us from being super close.

Isabella is the older one, Ryka is the baby.

Isabella is the older one, Ryka is the baby.

My dogs, though not biologically related, are the same way. They may be the same breed (shiba inu), they look close enough to be family, but that’s where their similarities end.  My older shiba, Izzy, is known as black and tan because she’s got that beautiful red with black tips all over. The younger one, Ryka, is sesame.

Izzy shortly after coming home

Izzy shortly after coming home

I received Izzy as a Christmas gift from my hubby after wanting a dog for years. Something about her feisty, playful nature spoke to him. It was evident with her brains and stubbornness once he got her home that she  definitely took after her mom. Surprisingly, she was also quite social, viewing all the young kids in the neighborhood as fellow puppies to play with.

Sadly, we hadn’t even had her more than a couple of weeks when she was attacked on our front yard by a the neighbor across the street’s dog. Izzy was not even 5 lbs, yet, and the dog who attacked was an over 50 lb. German Shepherd/Chow mix and a bit unstable. Fortunately, hubby is fast and was blessed with fast reflexes. He was able to yank her away and limit the damage to the minimum….fat, fur, and skin. It required 2 surgeries to the side of her face, but she was stoic. She bore up really well, and when she was healed enough to go back outside, she went straight to the spot on the yard where she’d been hurt, sat straight and tall and stared across the street at the neighbor’s house as if to send the message that this was her yard, and she would not be scared.

Izzy today

Izzy today, a bit majestic

Izzy is strong, silent, and smart. She was potty trained within a day or two and learned most of her tricks within a couple hours. When she goes to the vet, she’ll sit stoically while they administer her shots. Not a sound. She doesn’t feel the need to prove she’s an alpha. She just quietly takes the lead most of the time.

Ryka with hubby on adoption day

Ryka with hubby on adoption day

And then there’s Ryka. She’s my little diva. My drama queen. I say she inherits that from her dad. He disagrees. Apparently he thinks she gets it from me.

The first time Izzy’s regular vet saw Ryka (though they go to the same practice, they each had different doctors), she was completely surprised. She’d been used to Izzy’s calm, collectedness. Although I warned them from experience that Ryka tended to be a bit of an actress, she didn’t quite get what I meant until she tried to administer shots.

As I held her still on the table so the doc could administer shots, she started squawking and yelling like someone was trying to kill her. The doc hadn’t even touched her with the needle yet. She jumped back for a second and laughed. She realized I was not at all kidding about how different the two sisters were.

Ryka these days

Ryka these days

Where Izzy is naturally dominant and doesn’t feel the need to exert her power, Ryka’s like the power hungry guy with little big man syndrome. If Izzy is laying down, she feels the need to stand over her head. If Izzy is getting attention, she nudges her out of the way to claim it all for herself. Heck, she tries to establish dominance by standing over my feet every time I get to bed. Yeah. I have to remind her on a regular basis that I’m the Alpha mama.

Hamming it up for the camera

Hamming it up for the camera

What’s hilarious is that despite Ryka’s craving for being recognized as the queen bee, the slightest sign that she’s in trouble or she gets scared and she runs to hide…. behind Izzy. I have to hand it to both girls, though. Despite the fact that they’re both under 30 lbs., if they sense a threat to me, they’ll take it on, regardless of size. When an 80 lb. unleashed dog bum rushed us one day, little Ryka jumped in front of me and started growling the nastiest sound I’d ever heard her make. Izzy was even more dangerous because she got extremely quiet, all her muscles at attention, and her fur standing on end. It was fortunate that the other dog obeyed when I told him to go away. It could’ve been a very bad scene.

Do you have pet antic stories to share? Are you a dog or cat person? A Rattie? Not an animal lover? I’d love to hear from you!

BTW, for this Easter holiday, I have great deals going on for my books! Three For All is FREE this weekend, and Four One Night is on sale for $.99!

Comments about Three For All:

“Sexy fun! Kitt Crescendo’s debut novella takes readers on a thrilling, sensual journey many women yearn for, yet few are bold enough to admit. The tantalizing prose and erotic twists will turn you on, keep you there and leave you famished for more.

Kudos to Crescendo for writing a strong, feminine, sex-loving leading lady! We need more stories like these. ” -August McLaughlin

“This story will heat up your winter chill right now! Admit it, you’ve had this fantasy. You have a boyfriend, but you’ve always been a bit curious about your male best friend. The three of you are inseparable, so what if your friend and boyfriend decided to let you live out your fantasy? There’s nothing worse than badly written erotica, and you won’t find a trace of that here. You’ll feel like you’re there, so plan some alone-time! The only reason I’m giving this four stars is because I also read Four One Night, and I like it even better, and wanted to balance the scales to be able to give it a full five stars. If I could give this one 4.9999999 stars, I would.” -Ripley Gold

Comments about Four One Night:

“Holy damp panties!! Just when I thought things couldn’t get any hotter, Kitt Crescendo kicks it up 10 notches and proves me wrong!!” -Tish Delanoy

“This was one SERIOUSLY HOT FANTASY RIDE!!!!! Not only did it explore M/F/M/F, it dipped its toe into the mysterious waters of M/M/F/F and F/M/M/F! And to “top” things off, Author Kitt Crescendo even throws in a little taste of D/s play with an unusual twist (I won’t spoil that for you.) As she did in Three For All (Wild Side Book 1), Ms. Crescendo manages to take the challenging short story format and gives us a complete fantasy story. The pacing is perfect and the characters are interesting and unique; no easy task in a work of this length. Kudos to you, Ms. Crescendo! You’ve managed to create a second “Lelo worthy” story in this series and I can’t wait for the next installment!” -Boomer Sooner

Excerpt for Three For All:

“Michael,” James glanced in the direction of the sand courts. “You coming?”
Michael lifted his head from mine and raised an eyebrow at James. “Go ahead if you want. I’ll stay here with Dani.”

His rich laughter slid through me, warming me from the inside. “Good. I’ll give James a call and we’ll see you soon.”
I nodded. “Sounds like a plan.”
Candace stared at me intently as I hung up and dropped the phone into the cup holder. “So? Don’t keep me in suspense.” She grabbed my wrist just as I reached for the steering wheel and squeezed lightly. “What’s the game plan for tonight?”
“Well,” I glanced down from the road to where her pale fingers absently stroked the darker, olive skin of my forearm, “If you’d rather have me all to yourself, just say so. I can always call Michael back and cancel.”
“Tease.” She lifted her fingers from my arm with a light chuckle, “What exactly did you mean by ‘the more the merrier’?”
Maybe the little devil on my shoulder was right. I might have just been handed a prime opportunity. If I could only get everyone to see things my way. Might as well start with Candace. A smile flirted with the corners of my mouth as I maneuvered onto the interstate, grateful traffic was light. “What would you like it to mean?”

Again, you’re under no obligation, but I wanted to do something to celebrate the holiday…. Hope everyone has a Happy, Safe Halloween!

It’s also my birthday!

The Power of Mothers

Mothers-day

Mothers are powerful. Through them, children learn life lessons like self worth, empowerment, or sometimes…the opposite.

A mother’s feelings about her body or sexuality are often passed down and reflected in her children, particularly, daughters. A mother who diets a lot and speaks negatively about her body and weight sends the message that beauty is contingent on a very specific body image, often one that’s almost impossible to live up to.

The other day, it was driven home to me just how impressionable children are and how important a mother’s role is. A fellow author friend was lamenting the fact that her 3 year old had become convinced that she was “sick” and must stay home by her day care teacher because she’d been coughing. Apparently the teacher told her she shouldn’t be at school. My friend knew it was allergies, but because “teacher said,” her little girl could not be convinced to go to school because she was “sick.”

One word from that teacher. That’s all it took to convince a 3 year old. Wow! Is it any wonder that it got me thinking about other messages parents send their children, intentional or otherwise? I’ve shared the positive impact my own mother made on me regarding body image and sexuality….

But what does one do when the messages sent to them weren’t so uplifting? How does one go about fixing themselves so that they can be a better, stronger person for their children?  Recently I saw this video by Amy Jo Goddard and thought she had some great points…

A mother’s job is so important. She molds and builds her children to be strong, capable, productive members of society…hopefully who are also comfortable in their own skins, with their own bodies. She can raise children who aren’t afraid to embrace life, make their own decisions…and handle all the consequences, both good and bad.

What valuable lessons did your mother teach you? If your a mom, what message do you hope you’ve imparted on your children?

In honor of all the wonderful Mothers out there…and the wonderful and challenging job they have, I’m giving away my first novelette, Three For All….so go grab your Freebie and tell your friends!

Here’s a little excerpt:

“Oh, come on,” James whined. “You’re not seriously going to make me go play by myself.”

“That was a loaded statement.” I bit my tongue to keep from giggling over James’ inadvertent innuendo. “But seriously, there are always options.”

The Universe Used the Blogosphere to Give Me a Hug!

Admittedly, I’ve been “incommunicado” lately. Helping a friend start a new business (which I’m managing), handling staffing changes, vehicular issues, and taking on some freelance writing work has kept me hopping…out in the real world.

But then someone awesome like Phil sends me a tweet just to check up on me and I realize how much I’m missing all my awesome buds!

But as often happens on the blogosphere, a message like that is followed up by another awesome friend, Maria, who lets me know she’s been thinking about me…and that she featured me and a few other awesome friends on her blog. As it turns out, she did Spring Makeovers on us…and left me roaring with laughter as only she can. Check out the whip she gave me…HERE. Because, you know, she so generous that pimping my books (completely on her own with no coercion from me) was not enough. To top it all off, I’m sure ya’ll can understand as you read her comments below that she absolutely made my week back then, too!

***Kitt calls herself, theinnerwildkat but don’t let that fool you.  She ventures out from time to time to provide us with wild fantasies & escapades.

********************************

Side effects while reading these books may include increase in heart rate, stronger or irregular heartbeat, sweating,  difficulty breathing, paleness, dizziness, weakness or shakiness, blushing and excitement.  These usually go away quickly, especially if you rest.

But you know, they’re not the only friends who’ve been so amazingly generous and thoughtful. In fact, fellow author Natasha Blackthorne was kind enough to host me last month on her blog to help get the word out about my books. She’s so awesome that she’s still pimping the post via Twitter! And there’s the ultra fabulous Book Blogger extrordinaire, Stephanie….She not only hosted me and a giveaway on her blog (giving me a chance to talk BDSM terms), she also posted a review of Four One Night.

Icing on the cake, I’ve gotten a few reviews  on Amazon for both Three For All and Four One Night that have made me feel great about my decision to pursue writing! Thanks so much for all the love and support while I’ve been gone. In the meantime, I’m sure you’ll all see me being much more vocal again in the very near future….afterall, it’s May is Masturbation Month. How could I miss that? I’m sure I’ll be talking toys and lube and all the other fundamentals….

Has anything happened to you lately that’s just made your month (besides, masturbation, of course)?

And, because I’m me, I’ll leave you guys with one of my favorite (and sexiest) scenes from Don Juan DeMarco.

I Have A Writing Process?

I was recently tagged to join a Writing Process Blog Hop by my new friend, Maris Soule. It’s been a while since I’ve played this particular brand of “Tag,” but Maris was generous enough to ask, and this particular one intrigued me. Believe it or not, there are even rules to this!

The Rules: Like I said, it’s sort of like tag. You’re asked to participate, and if you agree, you’re assigned a date to answer 4 questions and asked to find 3 writers to follow you. Not too complicated, right?

Right now I bet you’re wondering…who did Kitt tag? Well, rest easy, it wasn’t you. Just kidding. 😉 Actually, I tagged my awesome long time friend and fellow writer, KerryAnn. I also hit up one of my first blog buddies, author and Mythical Monday extraordinaire, Mae Clair. And last, but definitely not least, one of my favorite Scottish time travel authors, blog friends, and incredible beta reader, Jessi Gage. Don’t worry, their deets will be shared in more depth later…and ya’ll better check them out!

So, before I answer the questions, here’s a little history on the lovely lady who tagged me: Author-Picture-Maris-Soule Maris Soule was born and raised in California. She was working on a masters in art history when she met a red-head with blue eyes who talked her into moving to Michigan–for just a couple of years. She’s still married to that man and still lives in Michigan (though she migrates to Florida in the winter). Soule has had 25 romances published by Harlequin, Silhouette, and Bantam (she’s a 2 time RITA finalists) and 2 mysteries published by Five Star. (Her P.J. Benson mysteries or “Crows” series.) In addition to writing mysteries, Soule has been putting some of her early romances out as e-books, and she recently signed a contract with Robert Hale Ltd. for a suspense about a woman in her 70s with a deadly past. Every Wednesday Soule writes a blog that generally deals with writing.

Check out her blog or Follow her on Twitter!

She’s a very cool lady who I’m fortunate enough to know personally thanks to Florida Writers Association and our Sarasota Writers Group.

Now, on to the questions for yours truly….

Kitt Bio Pic

1)  What am I working on?

Currently, I’m working on 2 projects.

My primary piece is the third part of my Wild Side erotica series. I tentatively named it Happily Unmarried After, and so far it’s stuck. Those of you who’ve read Three For All and Four One Night will be thrilled to see their beloved wild woman, Danielle Monroe, up to her uninhibited ways (and all the fun that goes with it).  Yes, if you click the above links, excerpts will follow. 😉

The other piece is an erotic romance novel, yet to be named. So far it’s just some character sketches and a couple of scenes, but we’ve all got to start somewhere, right?

2)  How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Hmm. Well, I guess I’d have to say it’s the way my characters are portrayed in my books. There are no billionaires or zillionaires in my books, first. Second? The setting is fairly common, and easy to imagine. Finally, my characters are fun and likeable with a playful, bantering dialogue. They don’t take themselves or each other too seriously, which makes them immediately likeable and relatable. I like to think that most people could read my characters and easily insert themselves into one of the characters and their very doable fantasies.

3)  Why do I write what I do?

My initial instinct to this question was to say, “Why not?”

The truth is, I write it because I enjoy it. Yup! For me, writing sex is fun! For as long as I can remember, I’ve been accused of having a gutter brain. I’ve also been gifted with a knack for understanding people and a talent for writing. I figured this was an opportunity to combine all my passions, then share it with others.

The other reason is because I feel very strongly that my books contribute to my belief that a sex positive lifestyle and approach is highly doable. If I can help someone open themselves up to the possibility of embracing their inner sexual goddess, then it’s worth it. It’s meant the world to me when someone’s come to me and told me that something I wrote on my blog or my book helped spice up their marriage/love life…or better yet, reminded them of the joy and sense of adventure that comes from acting out a fantasy. One is never too old for that!

4)  How does my writing process work?

One time recently, I tried to go by the way of plotters. It was a huge mistake. I talked to a fellow writer, planned the story with her over the phone, then headed off to write it. Yeah, that was the first time I sat down at the computer and the words refused to find a natural flow. Everything was a battle. Worse, once I was done, the characters were stiff, the action ‘flat’ and the story, awkward. It also lacked believability. That particular method didn’t work well at all for me.

Thankfully, it wasn’t difficult to get back to what’s worked for me in the past….I write what comes to me. Usually in chronological order, and definitely by the seat of my pants. I follow the story as it paints itself in my mind. My first draft is always rough, and by my second and third, the original is nearly unrecognizable through the growth of my characters, the dialogue, and the drama. I also usually give myself a week or so off from that particular work in progress between drafts so that I can look at my piece with a fresh set of eyes and a little distance. I find my clarity of vision for the WIP is best during those moments.

Introducing my fabulous writer friends:

KerryAnn

KerryAnnKerryAnn writes from her home in New England which she shares with her husband, daughter, and her two American Eskimo dogs who alternate between being her writing companions and writing distractions.  She prefers to write compelling characters in a variety of genres, but mainly contemporary and young adult fiction.  When she’s not writing KerryAnn usually has her nose in a book – family stories that cross generations, romance, paranormal, historical fiction, as long as it has unforgettable characters, she’s all in. Mae Clair

Mae ClairMae Clair opened a Pandora’s Box of characters when she was a child and never looked back.  Her father, an artist who tinkered with writing, encouraged her to create make-believe worlds by spinning tales of far-off places on summer nights beneath the stars. She snagged the tail of a comet, hitched a ride, and discovered her writer’s Muse on the journey.

Mae loves creating character-driven fiction in settings that vary from contemporary to mythical. Wherever her pen takes her, she flavors her stories with conflict, romance and elements of mystery. Married to her high school sweetheart, she lives in Pennsylvania and is passionate about writing, old photographs, a good Maine lobster tail and cats.

Jessi Gage
Jessi Gage headshot2Jessi lives with her husband and children in the Seattle area. She’s a passionate reader of all genres of romance, especially anything involving the paranormal. Ghosts, demons, vampires, witches, weres, faeries…you name it, she’ll read it. As for writing, she’s sticking to Highlanders and contemporaries with a paranormal twist (for now).

Please check out these ladies and follow their blogs. Next week will be their turns to share their writing processes. I know that I can’t wait to see what they share. What do you think? Does peoples’ writing process intrigue you? Bore you? What genre do you most enjoy reading?
Yes. What that really means is that I’m asking you to be an active participant on my blog. Say whatever you’d like to say. I’m not exactly easily hurt or offended…and you know how I love good dialogue. 😉
