Chet’s Nuts Roasting….err, Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire

Hubby sometimes likes to change lyrics to be either silly or maybe even off color…. Guess he suits me well, because it never fails to entertain me. The above was one of the first examples I ever heard him use. Go figure that it was on a song I love.

So, who better to sing such a beautiful song than the silky, smooth Nat King Cole?

So tell me… have you ever changed lyrics to songs for the sake of the humorous or perverse? If so, which songs and what lyrics? I promise, I’ll only be entertained…

My mother’s sister, my Aunt Marion, was married to my beloved Uncle Chet. But my rascally father after imbibing in holiday cheer used to change the lyrics of said Christmas song to … Yeah, point of contention in our house when I was growing up, Kitt.

LOL Chet’s nuts. Ouch, but so funny.

I used to have a cow-themed Christmas album, with songs sung by “cows” (people acting as cows) and lyrics like “We wish you a moo-ey Christmas…” I know, so poetically brilliant! 😉

I once had some Christmas wrapping paper that was filled with animals in this order, “Wee fish, ewe, a mare, egrets, moose, wee fish, ewe, a mare, egrets, moose, wee fish, ewe, a mare, egrets, moose, panda, hippo, gnu, deer.” It was my favorite wrapping paper, ever!

Maybe our spouses were separated at birth…mine changes song lyrics ALL. THE TIME. He was raunchier before we procreated – at least one of the young folks here would be mightily embarrassed. So he’s shifted to more family-friendly changes – still hilarious, but a part of me relishes the thought of what he’ll come up with, a few years from now…
