Heart Storm

Destroyed, gutted,
Knocked down and weak.
Holding back tears,
And fighting to breathe.
Digging deep for center,
She tamps down her turmoil,
Dons a cloak of inner peace
Slides on her masquerade.
She’s fitted herself for battle,
Fierce warrior to arms,
Unaffected, not untouched,
She battles strong and true,
Sharing hope, giving strength
Even when she’s nearly empty
Unrelenting, ever protecting
Unflinching, she faces loss
Vulnerable, yet powerful
She powers on,
To be the backbone,
A pillar of strength to lean on
For those who own her heart.
She hides away,
They need not see
When she breaks,
The tsunami that sweeps through,
Wrecking her.
Standing amidst destruction
She finds renewal,
Rebuilding herself…
…to start over.

THANKS, Kitt — for a multitude of things! I have to say how I was with you each & every letter of the way through Heart Storm, Sister! Obviously you had to have been describing yourself, but it was written impeccably, for anyone to have the potential of feeling as though you were describing them. I certainly did and kept saying yes yes yes for the entire piece! It was also just the right dose of medicine at the most perfect time. THANK YOU, as always, Kitt! ❤

I’m so glad you found it relatable. Sometimes we give so much we forget to take time for ourselves. Also, there’s nothing you wouldn’t do to be strong for those you love, even if it means depleting your own reserves so that they can lean on you.
